About Me
Hey there! I’m Ashlei Lien.
I’m a passionate and dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist who’s here to walk with you on your journey of healing and self-discovery.
I am biracial, with a Mexican immigrant mother and a white father, so I’ve lived the experience of navigating two different worlds—one that matches the majority culture and the other that is marginalized.
I understand the complexities of cultural identity and the challenges of fitting in.
My Story
As a first-gen, bisexual, Latine therapist, my journey has been greatly influenced by my identity and background, which both continue to shape my life and career.
Though I didn't always know I wanted to be a therapist, I was drawn to social services, inspired by my parents' careers. After graduating from SDSU with a BA in psychology, I pursued my education at USC, achieving a master’s in marriage and family therapy.
I jumped right into community mental health, serving the greater Los Angeles area where I worked with children, families, and adults, gaining valuable insights into how to best support my clients.
As my career progressed, I became a clinical supervisor, a role I adore. I love helping new therapists find their voice and confidence, especially from my unique perspective.
During the pandemic, I co-founded Savor Lining, a company providing mental fitness classes to increase mental health awareness in corporate settings.
Everything I've learned has brought me to where I am today. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping others navigate their own journeys, drawing on my rich personal and professional experiences.
My life experiences have profoundly shaped the way I work with clients.
My Approach
I’m not your typical therapist.
I believe in being real, relatable, and sometimes, a little bit raw.
I cuss, I laugh, and I’m not afraid to sit in the sh*t with you. My clients often say they feel truly seen, heard, and understood when they work with me.
I’m trained in various therapeutic approaches, including CBT, trauma-focused therapy, and the Gottman Method for relationships. I utilize attachment theory blended with a psychodynamic approach to unpack the deep stuff.
But what really matters is the connection we build together.
